Sonoma Resource Conservation District

Agricultural Heritage Series

Our Agricultural Heritage Series public outings provide a distinct experience for members of the community to connect with the environment and local agricultural landscape. With funding from the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (District) and in partnership with private landowners, we are able to offer these opportunities to the public.

Agriculture is a keystone of Sonoma County history and culture today. Since 2009, we have explored numerous properties protected into perpetuity by District conservation easements initiated by landowners who are dedicated to natural resource and land conservation. We've visited farms and ranches from the baylands where the Petaluma River runs to the San Pablo Bay for discussions on tideland function, hiked stunning ranches to hear about grassland restoration and management efforts, tasted artisanal cheese from renowned dairies, and explored spectacular vineyards implementing cutting edge conservation techniques. Public outing themes and topics are developed to spark curiosity and allow for group discussion.

To register for an upcoming outing please visit our Get Involved page. For more information please email Christine at or call 707.569.1448 ext 114.

There is no cost for these events. These outings are made possible by the voters of Sonoma County who fund the Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District's work with a quarter cent sales tax.
